Even with more than 22,000 car dealerships in the U.S., employing more than one million people who are standing by and ready to serve, today's car buyers demand even pampering and special treatment. None the less new dealers are getting ready for the electric car invasion!

They are becoming more apprehensive of the extravagant showrooms; they want a fair deal, good service, and a smile. Expecting the best, we were surprised to find that a German automobile club puts Smart (DaimlerChrysler's cult city car brand) in last place among car dealerships with respect to customer service. U.S. Smart centers must get much smarter and learn to market to the Smart's savvy buyer or lessor.

Approaching any dealership can be frightening. Consumers know that the dealerships are trying to make as much money as they can by selling cars; however, that is just the start. Each department within the dealership has a distinctive responsibility.
